This page is not long enough to talk about all the wonderful things that MommaD has done for the BookTok community. Her love and passion for indie authors is unlike anything I have seen before. Beyond being an indie author reader she is also supporting the community in many different ways as well as helping to host many different indie author related events!

Here are just a few categories that help to define what MommaD does for this community:

  • Spotlight Indie Authors

  • Showcase PR Packages & Book Mail

  • Host Community Events

  • Encourage Indie Author Support

  • Indie Author Avid Reader

The first week of December she will be hosting the BookTok Indie Author Awards alongside Ron Shaw. She also is helping to cohost the Tundies awards on TikTok alongside Timothy Kyle

My hope as an indie author is to find my niche of readers who enjoy contemporary romance stories that will move their emotions and leave them in happy tears when they get to the happily ever after. None of my books are light or fluffy. The topics tackled in my books range from grief, to racism, to forgiveness, to overcoming disabilities and obstacles that seem insurmountable. I believe readers need to earn that happily ever after and get to "the end" feeling inspired by the journey I put them on.

The other half of the content I put out is focused on motivating and promoting the indie author community. The first way I do this is through consistent posts every week where I encourage people to share their small wins. I've posted these videos every single Wednesday for the last year and given the weekly segment the name: "Small Wins Wednesdays." I do this because I believe the indie author community puts too much pressure on themselves. My goal is to encourage the community to focus on their little wins and progress from week to week.

Another part of my weekly motivating content is the "Pay It Forward" videos. These are also weekly posts where I share a short motivational paragraph that people can engage with in the comments and tag others as a way to pay it forward. The idea stemmed from my beginnings as a brand new author and meeting so many in the Booktok/Bookstagram community that wanted to help me.  The help I received during my first year as an author is why I do the pay it forward and small wins posts every single week.

The other way I support the book community is through "The Tundies." The Tundies is an awards show for the booktok community that myself, and my co-host Momma D, share every two weeks. It's meant to be partly funny, hence its roots from the tv show "The Office," but mainly as a way to honor the underdogs in the book community. We do this by recognizing upcoming narrators, authors, and even the passionate readers and booktokers that tirelessly promote our work. The goal is simple. We shed a light on the people making a difference and spreading kindness in the book community. Over the last year there have been over 60 people recognized and the growth of the awards show has been a blessing I never saw coming.
